Tour to Caesarea, Acre and Rosh Hanikra from Tel Aviv

Our journey begins in Tel Aviv as we travel along the picturesque Mediterranean coast, passing through Herzliya and Netanya before reaching our first destination, Caesarea. This ancient city, built under the reign of Herod and named after the Roman Emperor Caesar, showcases the remnants of a once prosperous and opulent urban center. Archaeological excavations reveal well-preserved gateways, moats, walls, and rooms. Notably, the Roman amphitheater, still in use today for performances by Israeli and international artists, stands as a perfectly preserved testament to the city's grandeur. Adjacent to the amphitheater, fragments of a former hippodrome can be observed. Additionally, the remains of a Roman Temple overlook the bustling port, which once witnessed the arrival of commercial ships laden with treasures from the East and the passage of Nabatean caravans en route to Rome. After the Roman era, the city fell into neglect for centuries until the arrival of the Crusaders, only to fade into obscurity once again in the years that followed.

Continuing our northward journey, we pass through Haifa, where we make a stop to marvel at the awe-inspiring Baha'i Shrine and its beautifully landscaped gardens. These terraced gardens gracefully cascade down the mountainside, adorned with vibrant flowers and meticulously designed landscapes across 19 tiers. Our next highlight is Rosh HaNikra, the northernmost point along Israel's Mediterranean coastline. Here, we embark on a cable car descent into a labyrinth of limestone grottoes, formed by the relentless pounding of waves against the rocks. As we make our way back southward, we pause in Acre (Akko), the country's largest Crusader city. This remarkably well-preserved city captivates with its impressive architecture and the living history within its ancient walls. Bustling markets and residents residing in historic structures bring the city's vibrant past to life.

Within Acre, we witness the reconstructed walls and moat, meticulously repaired by El Jazzar at the end of the 19th century. These mighty fortifications even withstood Napoleon's attempts to conquer the city. We explore the Crusader remnants, the former prison utilized during Turkish rule, and the gallows, a haunting reminder of the British Mandate era when Jews who violated immigration restrictions following World War II were executed.
